Old data CD

I have Vista and when trying to play an old automobile repair manuel cd from back in 2000, I get a message that says the version I'm running is not compatible with the CD. Is there a way to fix this?

Most likely No

If your Getting a compatibility issue then you will not be able too use it on your current windows.It was made for either Windows 2000,Xp,Or ME

Unless any body eles has any ideas

 

Hmm bye the way is it a Video or some kinda file just need to know are you trying too run it on Windows Media Player.I was thinking you might need a Codec Pack to run this CD???

 

Its a Ford service repair CD for a Ranger truck,it was published back in 2000.Hate to throw it away, but if I can't use it I have no choice

Who made this CD, as in what company published it? You can always try to run it in Run as XP.

 

Made by Ford, Ford Technical service publications, bought it off ebay,,its just a repair manuel but instead of putting it in a book they did it on a CD-ROM

I think brownizs is referring to Compatibility Mode - steps for doing so can be found here.

Try that first: there are other ways, such as running a virtual box, but the program should run by using the Compatibility Wizard...

 

Are you sure that it is the actual CD made by Ford, and not a pirated version. It may be that unless you know that it worked with 98se, Win2k, or XP, there is a good chance that software you purchase off of ebay is not valid software.

 

I should have noted I purchased it years ago and it worked on my old computer which was millineum edition and it worked on my previous laptop which had XP.

 

If you still have XP or ME, you can load it up in a VM, or go to microsoft.com and download the XP mode at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

 

Yes try compatibilty mode, but can you post a screen shot of the CD content. Maybe the info in the aoutrun.ini?
