You can open the Archived Outlook folder,

Outlook 97 File > Open Special Folder > Personal Folder ( browse for archive.pst )
Outlook 98 or 2000 File > Open > Personal Folders File (.pst) ( browse for archive.pst )
Outlook 2002 or 2003 File > Open > Outlook Data File ( browse for archive.pst )


It should create a new folder in your mail folder list so you can read the archived mail.

I'll be honest I'm may know Outlook but Outlook Express is not one I remember recovering an Archive file from but this link maybe helpful http://www.insideoutlookexpress.com/backup/partial.htm recovery at bottom.


Also I have used this application to recover certain corrupt mail .dbx files from OE6 so this may help, the app is now a paid one and not free any more but this older one I still have on my PC may help, all you need to do is to choose recover mode, then copy and paste the location of the mail store area ( to get this area in OE click Tools > Options > Maintenance> Store folder ) into the Input Path box as this will then list the email folder you just need to then choose an output path which can be any folder you like and then recover the mail from that archive.
