Old Game

I was cleaning out some of my older Software CDs when I found an old game of mine. Its called Lighthouse, it was made by Sierra. I remmebered what a great time I had playing it and that i'd never actually beatn' it. I said to myself "what the hell." and popped it in. I realized quickly it wasn't going to work with windows XP. Keep in mind people, I played this game (as the way I think it was meant to be played) on a windows 95 system with a pentium MMX processor back in the day. I figured i'd go try it on my crappy computer. It also has an MMX processor but is running windows 2000. I got a little further. I actually was able to install it. But when I went to run the program it said I had some kind of issue with one of the .cpp files. I think it was something like Restype.cpp. Any suggestions? I've been considering making a seperate windows 95 partition on the old computer but that would cause some serious headaches.

Try installing it and then using windows XP help to run it, you can go through a "Compatibility Wizard" in there and make the game run in Windows95 mode. I had to do that with some games, although i'm still unsure of how to run some dos games in it.

 

Holy crap Matacumbie. Thank you so much for that link. That forum had a great link in it that help me set everything up. I have now have the game up and running on my XP computer. Thank you so much. This game actually means a lot to me, I used to play it all the time when I was little and it has a lot of great memories.

 

Good deal. It looked like from what I read of the link that you could run it on XP, I just wasn't sure it was the same game you have.
