Old HP with resourse conflict

A family member dug out her late husbands old Win 98 HP to see if it still works.
She is wanting it for memories so dont say chunk it out like I told her to do.


When it is turned on where all the info like ram and stuff shows,
it shows:

Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 01
bus: 01, device:08, function: 01
Error
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 01
bus: 01, device:08, function: 01

Then goes on to finish booting up and then after the splash screen it goes black.
All I know is that it is Win 98 and I think it has only 64 mb ram.
Bought around 1992.
Any help will be appreciated.

 

I would start with removing all the PCI cards (except video) , cleaning out the case (dust etc) and try booting then. If no errors, then replace one card at a time and boot.

 

If it is just the data or "memories" on the hard drive you want, I would take the hard drive out and put it into another known working system to view the data.

That way even if you get it working, it won't be excrutiatingly (is that spelled right? lol, eh-skroo-shee-ate-ing-lee) slow to try and open files.

 

I will try to clean it and take the cards out tonight. It has been stored in a dusty shed for a few months
If that dont work i will try to do that with the hard drive.

Which HP machine is it?

Bought in 1992, 6 years before windows 98 came out?

 

It's an HP 4563z .
Whether it be 92 or not I only know what she told me.
It has a little tag on the bottom saying made ro Win98.

 

I got rid of the dust and didnt even have to reseat the pci card.
It is working like her husband had it so she is happy.

I may be asking for more on another HP i found in recycle center.
I got it in case I could use the parts for main HP.
