I've been fiddling with an old Sony Vaio laptop, PCG-F340, and have a problem with the hinges on the top.
Any time I try to move the top while running, it shuts down. Also, if I just open the top and try to boot up, 4 times out of 5 it won't if it is on battery but will on AC every time.
I have found out, it will boot up on battery every time if I open it and then slightly pull the top back to me. Seems to take the tension off the hinges.
My question - Is there a good lubricant for the hinges to free them up that won't gum up the works so to speak?
