Old Winxp Laptop: Power Supply?

Hi! I remember asking this here before but can't find the post. I have a WinXP laptop. It has issues, but I still want to use it--at least to extract things off its hard drive. The laptop is an HP Pavilion model. I think I should just extract the information from it, but its battery is broken, so I will need a new power supply--just to extract the information. Is there a way to do this without the power? I'm willing to spend up to $20 on the supply. If not, where can I get the supply?

 

You have a USB to IDE/SATA adapter, remove the drive and plug it into a working PC.
