Ok...I am running into all sorts of problems on my pc.
1.I am dual booting Win 2000 amd XP pro
2.I went to do a complete install on two seperate partitions.
3.When I was doing the Install it said My disc may be damaged
    4.But Installed anyway.
I can boot up both OS but everytime I try to multi task I get errors. And Xp will not let me update. A clean install and it says no updates available?
Win 2000 shows all the updates but will not install SP1.
I can use both Os's allright, but multitasking sometimes gets errors and is very slow. I tried scandisk on both partitions, and I use a page defrag everytime I reboot. Ohh here is something that totally trips me out is when in win 2000 my xp partition shows up as drive E. But My Xp is actually on Drive D. Win 200 says D is my cdrom. I can try to do a clean install and just use one OS if I Cant get this fixed. BTW my specs are:processor

you tried to find out if its a hardware problem? Did this happen before you formatted?

No problems before format. The reason I formated is because I installed xp in a new partition and it would not let me have a dual boot option to go back to windows 2000. So, I fdisked the xp partition and it still would not let me go to win 2000. So I fdisked everything on th maxtor HD and did 2 clean installs of Win 2000 and xp pro. I now don't have a dual boot problem I can get into both.

More then likely a problem with your hard drive. You can do a scandisk from Windows on both drives, but you might need to find a utility to do a complete test with a utility from the drive manufacturer. If you have no data on the drives, you could merge them back and re-partition them. Since your losing data, theres a possibility of some bad clusters and the drives on the way out.
