    HI all

Ok so I have a wirless access point in my home.

I have two computers connected directly to it, a laptop and and PC. I have come in from work one evening and the PC connects fine but the laptop keeps saying wireless network not found !!!! it worked 100% prior to this and I have not changed anything.

I have tried resetting the router/access point
disabling and reenabling the wireless network card

I have come to the conclusion it must be a setting on the laptop as the PC connects fine

    Any sugestiosn anyone ?

At what point does it say that the wireless network was not found? Can you see it in the list of access points? Does it show a signal strength?

    Hi GUys

Thanks for the responses, tried the Fn + F2 and it didnt work !

the point at which it says network not found is upon log in.

I try and search for wirless networks in range using the Windows Utiltiy but if finds nothing, therefore there is no signal strength showing as no networks are found.

It is almost like the router is not sending out a signal

Upon talking to a friend of mine he says it is a poor quality router and that is what is causing problems the router is a Speedtouch 585 V6 I got it free with my new 12 month ISP contract, has anyone else experienced intermitent problems with this router ?

I can see it being that though as my desk PC connects to it fine

any more ideas would be very much appreciated

    Thanks

YES! I had a free speedtouch when I took DSL in the UK. It was so crap and burnt out before the 12 months was even through. It became very erratic before it finally gave up. I had to keep re-booting the PC until it finally lllowed me to connect.

Are you with Pipex, by any chance?

Ok all - emergency over, as I was typing my last post on this thread my desktop also lost connection !

I decided it must be the router/gateway I turned it off to find a damaged ariel. I took off the plastic sheath to find the wire underneath had been pushed into the router !

I pulled out the exposed wire and hey presto both PC's now connect !

Pipex ? = No in fact they were my last provider I got rid due to their restriction of bandwith on file sharing ports

I am now with Buldog. They are not bad but I am not getting the adverstised 8Mb due to the distance from telephone exchange.

Anyway thanks all for trying to help me out, as ever I appreciate it when someone takes the time to respond.
