on-bored networking problem

ok i formated and reinstalled windows and never had this happen befor because it found a driver for it on the windows disk but this time its asking for the setup disk for the network on-bored sorry for any typos i had another long day

 

its on this computer its ethernet to ethernet with a crossover cable heres there spec's

Gateway2000 E-3000
166mhz
windows 98se
34mb ram
4mb video
10/100 fast ethernet network everywhere

compaq deskpro SFF EN series
500mhz
windows 98se
64mb ram
16mb video
intel network on-board 10/100

 

i have the driver for the network on-board on the computer that needs it but every time i go to install it it asks for the setup cd not the windows cd i dont have a setup cd for it i downloaded the driver for it from the compaq website man this is driving me nuts i have been trying to get it to work for months

when it asks for the setup CD have you tryed navigating the wizard to the directory containing the drivers?

that usually works for me

 

yea i tryed that but it always says some kind of bs and will not load the driver because when it starts to load the driver it ask for its setup disk been at this for over a month now i'm thinking this computer does not like me
