On demand screensaver

How can I add a screensaver shortcut to the quick-launch bar? I always have the screensaver disabled on my PC, and I usually turn off the LCD if I'm not going to be using the PC while it's working (like encoding video, for example). But there are times when I'd like to be able to have a screensaver on demand, one click and it's running. I'd like to stay away from any 3rd party screen savers if possible; if I could just launch the generic Windows XP screen saver with a single click from the quick-launch bar, that would be fan-freekin'-tastic! ;)

    Thanks!

    Hello dlb

If you have MS office installed it is possible to add office as a toolbar option and within that there is a screensaver shortcut.

I could not get it (the screensaver shortcut) to run properly by adding it to the quick launch toolbar.

If you have MS Office and would like further assistance, I would be pleased to assist you.

This only works for a particular screen saver (has nothing to do with your screensaver settings):

Locate the screensaver you wish to use in C:\Windows\System32 (either arrange files by type, and find them, or do a Search... either way, the screensaver extention is .scr).

Then, simply right click on it, and select Send To -->Desktop (Create Shortcut), and then drag the shortcut from the Desktop to the Quick Launch section of the taskbar (and rename it to Screensaver or whatever you want, etc.)

    Hello mcsmc

Yes that's correct you must have already set up your screensaver through the desktop option. The beauty of it is that if you wish to change what your screen saver is you just go back into the desk top and select a different one.

Your short cut was cool, I tried it. I guess you would have to create a new shortcut each time if you wanted to change your screensaver?

    Thanks for input!

@ mcsmc: I was thinking that I'd have to do it the way you described. I'm not too worried about having to create a new shortcut each time I want to change the screen saver, because I haven't used one on my home PC in over 2 years, and I really don't even think I'll use it more than a couple of times a week, and therefore will probably never change it. I'll just use the generic one where it says "Windows XP Professional" in white letters on a black background, and it pops up here and there.

    Thanks again.
