I didn't know where to ask this, but why would an ISP tell their customers they are having trouble with Google Drive? I thought that was file storage, and an individual problem, I mean, a person's own computer issue?

Can anyone help me with this? My sister's ISP is a rinky dink outfit in Coos Bay Oregon. She is living in a Modular Home Park and they have "their own" ISP, not one of the cities like Charter, or Comcast. Plus, my sis is not allowed to sign up with Charter or Comcast. She is forced to take the ISP they have a contract with (the park has a contract with).

Thanks for any help. My sis's internet speed is usually around 1.7 and they are suppose to provide at least 15 mgps for downloads.

Hi Max, thanks for your reply. I looked into it further, and I think that ISP provider has everyone on the same server (I think that's it) I mean, my sister does not require a passcode to get wifi, and I didn't when I was there. I think everyone in the park is on the same "deal" so it is getting overloaded maybe??

It's really a shame because she pays just 10 dollars less than I do for internet, and I get 50 mgps download on a regular basis. She get's 15 at the most. But like I mentioned, they have a contract, so she has no choice to get another provider. She can get Frontier, a service that provides DSL but with that company, she is forced to pay for a landline, and she only uses her cellphone.

Thanks again, while I was searching the net for answers, her speeds went back up to 14.0 (something like that) so her ISP must have finally fixed the problem after 5 days of her internet going off and on. I guess we can get addicted, or at the least, very dependent on internet;) Denise

    Hi Denise

It does sound as if your sister's ISP had insufficient capacity to provide a good service to their customers. Maybe now they have resolved it.
Few of us now can manage without the internet.
The need to have both an internet connection and a useless (for many of us) landline phone is common here in the UK. Only one provider that covers the bulk of the whole country (Virgin Media - part of Liberty Global) offers broadband alone (at a very high cost). That will change, as many of us just use a cell phone for calls and no longer need a physical land line.

I've told her that if her and the others in the Park that are unhappy with the service, can go to the neighborhood meetings and vote to end the contract when it comes up for renewal. It's all Seniors living there I believe. So not sure how many are actually using internet, or enough to know what it's all about.

She'd be paying a bit more for Charter. I have that here and it's very good service. Probably paying too much but still, it's worth it to me, plus I can afford it if I skimp on more unimportant things like food, soap, shampoo, LOL!! Just kidding, honest;)

Give this list to your sister (at least she can grab her Kindle and do a few things)
    1. Bay Area Athletic Club 985 Newmark Ave
    2. Bay Area Yamaha 1397 Sherman Ave
    3. North Bend Lanes 11397 Sherman Ave

    9. kaffe 101 171 S Broadway
    10. Coos Bay Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore 776 S 2nd St
    11. The Broiler 2 N Central Blvd

All these hotspots so no network name so there would be no special log in needed.
In case she is worried about it being open, I don't think it is any worse than here currently having to share a server for internet access with all her neighbors.
