    HI

I gotta Asus A8N-SLI moboard which had the chipset fan failure. I called up Asus and received a new fan and installed it. When i put the motheraboard back in and turned the comp on the audio wasnt working so i restarted. The audio then came on but the comp did an auto restart within a few minutes and returned with no audio.

That is now what happens whenever i turn it on...have sound - autorestart - no sound.

    any clue whats going on???

    Thanks

Try booting in safe mode and removing the sound drivers. Reboot in normal mode, reload the drivers, reboot, and see what happens. There is a chance that the chip with the replaced fan was damaged by overheating before the new fan was installed. If the PC ran for any amount of time w/o adequate cooling, thermal damage is a very possible result. If reloading the drivers doesn't help (maybe reload the chipset drivers also), then hopefully your MB is still under warranty... or you can disable the on board sound in the BIOS and install a PCI sound card....
