i bought a new pc for my mum and dad. there isnt a graphics card installed inside so it uses onboard graphics. they have a monitor and hd tv that are both 720p. is it possible to connect both of these to their pc? on the motherboard there is a vga port and a hdmi port. can the tv be plugged into the hdmi port and the monitor into the vga port so that both monitor and tv can be used at the same time?

i know this is possible with a graphics card. but im just not sure about onboard graphics.

also could i buy a vga splitter cable and plug both tv and monitor into the vga port?

Yes, you can use both graphics ports (VGA and HDMI) at the same time with a dual screen setup, though I can't promise the video performance will be what you might have hoped for.

what about splitting the vga? is the video performance ok for that? its just for watching movies on the monitor and tv.

No video quality running both at the same time won't be as good. Why do they need to have both at the same time? Just choose TV when they watch movies, monitor when doing other things on PC (word proc, email, etc.).
