I've spent the last 2 days including today working on and searching for solutions to this problem and no matter what I do I get no where.

First off I have a Gateway GT5676 that I just got a few months back and it came with Vista 64 bit Home Premium edition. I recently had to reinstall and kept it as the 64bit because it was kinda recommended during the install lol. Now I'm not sure if it was there before I reinstalled but under my network connections all it shows is that NVidia Controller thing and nothing else. I've tried getting drivers from the gateway site, which for some reason install in Japanese or Chinese whatever which is weird. I am able to find different slightly newer drivers from the Marvel site (it's marvel onboard network) and that is in English but I cannot install it because it says I have to uninstall the one I have first. I cannot see my network adapter so how the hell can I do that? My internet WORKS, all networking stuff seems to work, except I'm trying to hook up a tunnel program like XBconnect and/or Xlink. So I can play a certain game with someone else because we need updates off and that kicks us off Live. The problem is I cannot select my network adapter so that would be the reason they aren't working correct? Any ideas why this is or am I just stuck with what I got unless I install 32bit or XP?

Other solution I tried is going to my old computer and taking out the 2 network cards to use a different one so I could select it in programs. So I figured I'd plug em both in just in case one didn't work or whatever I could use the other. Well what happened was one showed up but couldn't install because it couldn't find drivers. So the 2 I have are Linksys LNE100A0 & RMC RTL9139C and I downloaded the Linksys drivers but they seem to only work for XP and 2003 I don't see anything for Vista and when I click setup it says I need different drivers? As far as I can tell there aren't any and trying to use those drivers doing going through the wizard doesn't work either and I tried the RTL8139C drivers and those don't seem to be it either. I have no idea which one it is because I haven't took one out and tested it but for some reason i think it might be the Linksys but I really don't know.

So those are the things I tried to get this working or get around it and so far I just can't win :cry so I gave up and decided to ask here, can anyone help?

Hi BlackRob183 and welcome to MGs.
First off I think you should uninstall the cards you added from device manager and then physically remove them. Then try accessing your BIOS, should be a specific key at boot screen to enter, and once there disabling your on-board adapter, restart, access BIOS again and re-enable adapter.
See if that gets the adapter back into device manager.

Have you contacted Gateway support? Only a few months old, it should still be under warranty. If there happens to be a hardware fault in the machine, Gateway should have a fix or information for it. Make them support your product if needed
