T Rex --- one hit wonders?????

Sorry cant agree there , what about Ride A White Swan, Hot Love,Get It On, Jeepster, Telegram Sam, Metal Guru, Children of the Revolution,Solid Gold Easy Action? And these are hits that got to N0 1 or 2
Also T Rex had No 1 chart success with Electric Warrior, Prophets, Seers and Sages the Angale if the Ages/ My People were Fair, and Bolan Boogie.

Just for good measure they got to No4 with The Slider in Aug 72!!

So now you can guess how ancient I really am!!! lol

    Re: A Few More

Errmmm, Free had three platinum albums and were one of the most influential blues rock bands of the late 60's early 70's, I don't really think that constitutes a one hit wonder, Trex had 9 hit singles and Argent were one of the biggest prog rock band ever to hit the stage in their day. Now unless you're only talking singles then maybe but that would make Led Zeppelin complete no hopers.

  13. horai

    horai Private E-2

Oh and while we're at it Mountain had three gold albums, Mountain Climbing, Nantucket Sleighride and Best Of Mountain.

Badfinger also had a hit with Come And Get It and Argent had hits with God Gave Rock & Roll To You and It's Only Money.

    True U2 Story

I have kind of a funny story about U2. Years ago a friend of mine’s parents were traveling through Nevada and stopped for lunch at a small hamburger place in the middle or nowhere. No inside seating, just 2 picnic tables outside. Now keep in mind my friends parents were in their mid 60’s at the time and very conservative Republicans. My friend’s mom is really a sweet woman and my friends dad a crusty WWII vet. Anyway, my friend’s parents just sit down to eat at one of the 2 picnic tables when 2 tour busses stop at the restaurant. A group of long hair younger people get out, placed their orders, and very politely ask my friend’s parents if they would mind if they shared the picnic table since there were so few seats. My friend’s parents took a long look at these ‘long hairs’ and hesitantly said Ok. During the meal the ‘long hairs’ and my friends parent’s made small talk and got along just fine. At one point one of the ‘long hairs’ asked my friend’s mom if they knew who the guy sitting at the other picnic table was. My friend’s dad said ‘You mean the guy in the blue glasses?’ The long hair replied ‘that’s Bono”. My friend’s dad asked in a gruff voice” Bono! What the hell’s a Bono?” To make a long story short my friend’s parent’s were spending a nice afternoon dining with U2. Both my friend’s parent’s commented on how nice and polite these younger people were and would gladly dine with them again. Before this story I really hadn’t paid much attention to U2 but after hearing this story I became a huge fan.

    True story!

1 hit wonders are easy to name, but what about 1 album wonders?

This is where an artist or band or whatever had a huge album with multiple hits and the rest of there albums didn't sell, sucked or had no hits what-so-ever.

Hootie and the Blowfish comes to mind.

I seem to remember Badfinger having "No Matter What" and "Day After Day" as well as the two previously mentioned hits. Free had "Wishing Well" in addition to "All Right Now".

How about "Evil Woman" by Crow, "Na Na Hey Hey" by Steam, "You, I" by The Rugbys, and "Did You See Her Eyes?" by The Illusion?

There was a song in the late 60's, maybe early 70's, called Fire, but I can't remember the guy who sang it.

The first line of the song was: I am the God of Hellfire...
