One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be recovered...

This has just happen to me...:cry<>:cry<>:cry

I was updating Window Media Player 9 and all things seemed in order, when the updating proceeds just stopped and I could not cancel nor x out the box...

Turned rig off and then on again, only to get the box with the message of this thread...

Also missing is the lower right hand side of the start menu-area that comes up when start is pressed; set program access, connect to, help and support, search and run - all gone..So too, is all programs...

2/3 of installed programs are gone!!

Machine boots with the message of this post and then shuts down after 5 min. or so and starts again over and over-

The system cash!! :cry

The only fix was to clean the drive and do a fresh reinstall....:confused

Three hours or more of work as all things were not saved...

 

Go to this link http://www.piriform.com/recuva and download Recuva, it may help you recover some of the stuff you lost, its a real good tool, its by the people who give us ccleaner, hope this helps you out a little !
