I tried posting on the Online Armor forum, but I guess I was too new and it wouldn't let me. My computer is paralyzed (I'm on another right now).

    OS-WINXP SP2

I installed Online Armor Free version today. The setup went fine, but after that, I couldn't get BitTorrent to execute. I thought I'd check the settings in Online Armor, but when I clicked the tray icon or selected it through the Start>All Prorams, it wouldn't come up. I can't even get the task manager to come up. I rebooted and got the message about "oarrv.exe" and that "an error occurred in the application" and asked me if I wanted to continue, retry, or end the application (or something similar). I chose to "end" it and now, I can't get anything to execute!

I tried to get add/remove programs (to uninstall Online Armor) and CCleaner to execute and they wouldn't. Both gave me error messages about "Windows cannot find the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item." Firefox also gave me this message.

    HELP PLEASE!!!

Thanks. I think the problem might be related to a registry problem. I can't run any programs, at all. I can't even shut down without physically pushing the button on the tower to turn it off. I had uninstalled Norton/Symantec using the Norton uninstaller. I then went through the registry and removed any other Norton related entries per some instructions I had found on the net. I also ran CCleaner after that. Anyway, my computer dead in the water. I think a possible registry problem along with Online Armor blocking some things might be it. I don't know where to go from here.

Totally dead? Can you boot into safe mode?

    Update:

I had rebooted twice and started Windows fine. When I tried to run anything, I mean anything, I'd get the same "Windows cannot find the specified file....". When I tried to shut down, it just would grind a little and never shut down. However, on the third reboot, I tried F8 to get into the boot screen. It didn't give me the option to boot into safe mode (I didn't understand what the crazy numbers on the screen meant) so I hit ESC and then it booted into normal WIN mode and everything is working fine now. However, I'm scared to reboot again for fear it'll act up again. Should I go back to the registry backup that CCleaner did right before the problem(s) and select "MERGE" from the right-click menu? Would that hurt anything?

Think maybe when you manually deleted things you might have caused a problem. I've been using Ccleaner for years and never had a problem, did you change any settings? It's best to leave at defaults.

If pc is working now, create a Restore Point in case you need it. If you're still having problems use System Restore to restore your pc to a date prior to this issue.

How to get to system restore:

No I would not restore Ccleaners registry backup, from what I understand you manually deleted files prior to using Ccleaner, so what you did manually would not have been backed-up.
