This doesn't really fit in any topics, but since it deals most with gaming, I figured it should go here. My question is about DSL. I was considering Speakeasy as an ISP, however I recently found out that they were switching all the lines in my area to RADSL rather than the previous ADSL lines. I am going to be using this for gaming, and I as wondering if I should consider going with Earthlink instead and using their ADSL lines. However I do know that Speakeasy has more of a reputation of being low ping friendly. Any help would be much appreciated.

from what i've read RADSL is ADSL but with larger distnace from the main hub, and also its upload is will be decreased and your download increased to better fit mainstream needs. I still recommend cable over DSL even in high density areas because of my running problems with it over 2+yrs....if i had to pick between the two i would go w/speakeasy. Online gamging also demands more from your upload then download.

The main problem with Cable in my area is that it is Comcast. My friend, who does not live to far away currently has it and has more problems with online gaming than me, and I am using AOL dial up. Now that just makes me not want to even touch it with a 50 mile pole. Also, is there any way for me to tell how far down the line I am, since where I am on the line may depend on what kind of service I want.

My friends that run game servers with Speakeasy are very happy, once set up.
I have Comcast cable and it does get occasional interruptions that will kill me if I am online and in a fight. But the cable is almost as good at gaming as the DSL and a fair amount cheaper. You will not be serving games on a cable.

Yeah, unfortunatley spekeasy has shut down all their POP in denver. Apparently it wasn't holding its own cost wise, so people with it have had drastic performance decreases. I actually am starting to think about going with something non-name brand. Anything from comcast is out of the question for me for several reasons...
