online remote keyboard?

i am wondering if it is poossible to use remote assistance without having to view the desktop? you may be asking whats the point in that? but when the remote pc is playing media remote assistance lags alot. i use a program called progdvb to watch all my cable tv channels and i also stream from it. so it would be handy if i could change channel from a different network while its streaming.

so any ideas of any program that can do this for me?
