I have been using Trendmicro's Housecall for a while now, but now that I downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 2, it doesn't work. I followed the instructions on how to enable Active X from their website, and I set the security to always allow Active X controls from their website. But still, the area of the page that usually has the scanner is a small rectangle with a red X on it. I am using IE 6, by the way.

I also tried the scanners from Panda and Norton. They both gave me similar error messages about "Unable to run Virus Detection," even though the Active X seems to have download alright. I noticed that Norton requires "Scripting" to be enabled, but that area in their FAQ comes up as "The page you requested is not accessible."

So, could the problem be with scripting? My first impression was that it had to do with the new security features of SP2, perhaps the firewall. After all, it was working fine a few weeks ago.

My experience witn online virus scanners have been to find mysterious adware immediately following a scan.

You would be better served asking this in the Software Forum where there is a lot of discussion about WinXP SP2. This is the Spyware Forum and you are not having a spyware problem.
