Only a few things will open on my PC

My problam started after I downloaded 'Game Accelerator 3.3' from the game tweak section. Oh, my operating system is ME, Hard drive is 20GB , Ram is in the 200's...I can't find out at the moment.

So after I downloaded Game Accelerator 3.3 and installed it, I attemped to access something on my destop. But it would not work, this message came up :

'Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\desktop\cwshredder.exe' You may have typed the name incorrectly in the run dialog, so another open program cannot find a system file. To search for a file, click the start button, then click search.'

So I tried another program on the desktop and it came up with the same message apart from the program name. Please note that both the programs were shortcuts. Internet Explorer is not a shortcut on my desktop so I accessed that and it worked! So I tried to access a program from the Start menu but that did not work. I thought it was due to the downloads of Game Accelerator 3.3 so I went to the control pannel (successfully) to go on add or remove programs. I tried but this message came up:

'Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.'

I tried all of the icons in the control panel, and the only one that worked was Folder options.

When I couldn't access add/remove programs I did a search for the program. I found some files and deleted them manually.

Also none of the icons which appear in the disktray appear, none of them are active. That includes Norton Autoprotect, firewall etc.

Please advise me to what I can do!

ok, tell me if this makes no sense -

can you do a restore to before you downloaded the game tweak?
have you ran ad-aware and another virus scan?
