Open .exe files

Hi there, when i go to start a program up i.e firefox.exe a window appears saying open with, then choose the program you want to use to open this file:

gives me recommended programs

microsoft office word

only way a can get it to open is to look for the appropriate program on the web, os windows vista

any ideas?

Looks like you've broken your exe file associations. Fairly complicated fix - have a look here:
