open folder in same window

Had a similar prob with opening a harddrive in the same window after going through my computer, still can't there but living with it, now, when I click on a folder , be it the original or shortcut it opens in a new window instead of the same one. Very annoying. I have already checked tools/folder options/browse folders/ and it is set to open each folder in the same window. This prob only started in the last 3 days.Have monkeyed around with any of the settings.Anyone with an idea?

 

Tried that as stated in my original post.I have no idea what caused this, random clitch in XP ?

 

You have probably already tried the "restore defaults" button in the general tab? If not give it a go. Also try the "apply to all folders" button it on the view tab in folder options, if still a no there is a tick box with "launch folder windows in a separate process" not to sure if it ticked for you but I haven't a problem and mines un-ticked.
