Hey geeks, Firstly I am sorry if I have posted this in the wrong thread section....I had a doubt while opening picture files(i.e jpg etc) in XP??
Is it possible to open the .jpg files in its own independent window in XP similar to Vista??
For example, Windows Vista can open multiple picture files in its own independent window rather than in the same window, which happens in XP. If possible can you please suggest me how to do it...any help would be appreciated.Thank you:wave geeks:major .....

I'm a little unclear as to what your looking for here... you would like to open pictures one at a time in their own window? What is happening right now when you try to open a picture?

    Hi

The Windows Picture and Fax viewer in XP is not great, but did ok for when XP was released as a basic picture viewer app, the updated Windows Photo Viewer in Vista and Win7 allows for multiple pics to be opened, where as XPs Pic and Fax viewer does not.

You can right click a pic and choose Open With and choose MS Paint, then do same with another pic as it will allow multiple image windows.

    Hi

Not with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, btu as I mentioned you can open your images with MS Paint (or for that matter any Image applciations, eg. XNView, FastPictureViewer, IrfanView etc)

But what you could do with XP and MS Paint is to make it the default application that opens your images, just right click an image type (say a jpeg) and choose Open With > then Choose Program (if MS Paint is in the list click to highlight it, if not browse for it) then pop a tickmark in the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box, and click OK, then when you double click a jpeg image to open it, it will open in Paint and you can keep clicking as many as you want as they all open in new Windows.

Ah its ok left open, we tend not to close thread if no need to (do if really old ones are replied too) but your last post signifies that your question is answered.
