Open Office 3 and printer

Can anyone tell me why OO3 will not find my default printer XP Pro, but work fine on another computer with XP Home:

I went to print a document in writer and got an error message that there is no printer. I clicked the error message and got a screen to select printer, but it was grayed out. I am able to print out from Microsquish Word (Which I am trying to eliminate.)

I did a repair installation and still no printer in OO3. (Yes, it is the default printer)

I performed a complete reinstall. I removed everything (registry, files...).

What is interesting is that the printer icon on the toolbar shows "print directly to printer (HP5550)", but when I click on it or use the 'print' from the Format dropdown, I get an error message that it cannot find the default printer.

 

I shut off the antivirus and firewall and no change.

Yes, I have reinstalled printer after reinstallation of OO3.

I had renamed the profile a while back. I have used the 2 forums at openoffice.org and received the same responses. It works on my friends XP Home computer hooked up to my printer fine.

What is odd is that the toolbar Icon shows the connection when I hover my mouse over it, but it will not print using the Icon or 'file print' and it will not allow me to install a printer because it cannot find default printer.

It works fine under MS Word.
