opening links with username and password in it

    first off i can open basic links. don't have that problem. the problem i have is IE won't open a link that has the username and password in the link. the window opens and says can't display page, but on my friends PC it would open and put in the username and password and display the page. can anyone help out.

    What version of Windows ?
    What version of IE ?
    What type of URL ? (ftp/http/https)

    The ability for IE to open links with usernames and passwords in them was removed in a security update. Other browsers I believe can still open those links, or alternatively you can remove the username and password from the link and enter it seperately when asked.

    cool i kinda figured but just wanted to see if there was any way around that. thanks for the info.
