opening mpg files crashes program

hi. i have xp home on a P4 3ghz laptop. i do video editing from my dv cam with ulead video studio and i use webcam on several chat programs.

all waswell untill this week when i installed splitcam. it works wellwhen the cam is the source but crashes from an mpg source.

worse.... my other programs such as video studio are also crashing when opening mpgs which they have always opened fine before.

the when you open the file or try to either the application just vanishes or it hangs and you get the report the error to microsoft box!

i suspect some kind of system file corruption or a conflict but dont know where or how to solve it.

i loked at system information / windows errors section and some of the crashes are showing.. the ones where it hangs.. but the ones where it just vanishes are not being logged...

here is the extract from the log and it is interesting to see two different errors on split cam and the error on vid studio returns the same error as one of the split cam ones...

can anyone interpret this and help me know where to look for the problem.

also... i tried removing split cam and restoring system to pre-install but it would not let me restore!

i really want this to work cos split cam is great if it is working.

Go to the slitcam site & see if they have any updates/patches for it. They may even know of the problem.
