    Morning,

A website I use has tutorials. When I click on the tutorial link they automatically open up inside the browser using QuickTime.

I don't want Quicktime (or anything related to Apple on my computer). Is there a way to get these files to open up with another program ( I use VLC)?

I am using Firefox 3.0, Win XP and all the file associations for all video types are set to VLC.

    Thank you

I'm sure there is, but I'm not sure how. You could always install QuickTime Alternative Lite which is exactly what it says it is. And it's free, and has no connection to Apple at all. :-D

I used to have QT on my computer and always wanted links to open in the standalone player not the browser plugin. Never quite figured out the settings.

You could try the FF Addon DownloadHelper and see if it works on your website. It would download the tutorial and then you could open the file in VLC. It is what I do for streaming media since I don't like browser plugin players.
