At this point in time, do any of the above reference word processors other than Microsoft Office,
    1) provide MACRO recording and editing/creation capability?
    2) provide a MSO macro importer tool? (presumably this would allow me to import/convert the macro .dot file and keep using my existing MSO macros (over 100, some very lengthy macros at last count) which makes recreating them from scratch in any program a major pain in the butt).

I use LibreOffice. Prefer it to OpenOffice, not exactly sure why now as I switched a long time ago.
Good thing about LibreOffice is it turns up in Debian Linux's. SparkyLinux an excellent example.

So you can get the same interface and behavior from Windows to Linux.
For that reason I'll never consider MS Office again.

Also Libre/Open Office have better PDF generation ability. MS Office for some reason doesn't produce a Document Map during PDF gen unless you click through options each time to ask for it. One example of better behavior from Libre/Open over MS Office.
