"Operating System Not Found"

Please help!

I was using the internet as usual, everything was working with no problem, then suddenly the screen froze. I waited a long time for it to go back to normal but nothing happened, so i turned off the laptop with the power button to restart it. When i turned it back on it now said, "operating system not found"! I can not even enter safe mode. When i press f8 it just bleeps at me.

What is going on?!

 

It may be a hardware failure. Make/model/age of this computer? OS installed?

Turn it off completely and let it cool off, for say 1/2 hour. Check and clear all fan vents of dust. Try to boot again.

If that fails:
Do you have a boot CD/DVD? If you have a windows repair disk, try to boot with that. If not, since you have a working computer, visit http://livecdlist.com/ and get a live linux CD. It's easy, download the .iso file and burn it to disk. Then try to boot your computer using it.

Thanks for reply. It's an Acer Aspire 6930g laptop, about 2 and 1/2 years old, running Windows Vista.

Ok i tried this, but it made no difference.

No, i don't have any disks.

I am using internet cafe. I will burn the linux CD and try on the laptop. Thanks for help.
