We've been using Dropbox for our small business to keep client files w/photos, invoices, etc. shared between like 7 users. We recently switched to SugarSync. Everyone's not too happy with that though. Are there any other similar options out there in your opinion that would provide the same as Dropbox?

I use Box for my personal files and like it well enough to not be interested in switching to any other service. I particularly like how the Android app syncs seamlessly with my computers.

I have to say, I share Adryn's privacy concerns, and if you are in the US you can actually get your company and yourself into serious legal problems if you are careless with client information. Box offers a separate account type for businesses that you may be interested in exploring. No idea how it compares to DropBox since I've never used that one.

    Hi

Dropbox is good and I use it on occasion as work has a dropbox server, but I also tend a lot to use Skydrive as earlier mentioned and as you can limit the access to specific users, so that only those invited can access the data saved online, its a great choice for business.

You can also get the desktop Skydrive application this acts like a folder http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/skydrive/download so you can drag an drop files easily to specific skydrive folders.

Also check out ADrive they have a free 50GB plan and some paid options...

Encrypt those client files. Even if it is no more than 7Zip with a password (remember to check "encrypt file names" as well)

If you want to roll your own, there is Owncloud.

Thanks guys. I'm just the assistant and recently came on board. It's a remodeling & design business. They put client info such as contact info, receipts, invoices, etc. in folders in Dropbox, but recently switched to SugarSync, which is similar. I wanted to put feelers out there and see what else might be comparable and available. They also use SmartSheet for keeping track of projects. I'll definitely speak with her about the privacy issues. She's always open for new ideas - anything that makes it more efficient & effective. :)

I do not like Dropbox, due to there are no limitations to stop people from deleting stuff. I have a box.com 50gb account, due to jumped on board for that offer when iOS 5.0 came out, and could not pass it up.

I have tried out Owncloud on a shared server that allows 1TB of space per user, and can be designed around the organization using it, and either remote hosted, or placed on a server in the rack space at the location.

The client that goes with it, is android, iOS, Windows, MacOS, Linux is just as good as the client for box.com and others. There is also the Amazon s3 cloud space, but it is pricey when you start looking at what they are charging.
