I downloaded 360 Amigo System Speedup (free edition) and was wondering what other people here thought about the program. So far, it seems like a pretty useful utility, but are there any issues I should be aware of or keep an eye open for? Any feedback would be welcome!

    Hi

Not used that app personally but have read a few reviews on it from some tech writers and the feedback is mixed, but what I would suggest is that this untility has a registry cleaner and from what I can see its one of the more aggressive types and this could lean towards you accidently removing a registry key that you may need.

The registry is not an area that will speedup your PC to a degree that you could actually see your PC behaving quickly, the reason only to clean the registry from my point of view is when troubleshooting an application or if uninstalling an application, leaving old entries in the registry really doesnt do much harm or cause massive slowness in your PC.

Personally I would stick to the likes of CCLeaner for cleanup of temps and registry.

I have used this application and found it to be far too aggressive so it has been condemned to the Recycle bin.

Was it the registry aspect or the other tweaks it does to speedup your PC?

May give the app a test though as I'm curious.

I used it to clean garbage off my hard drive, then went back and changed a few settings. I WAS using Glary Utilities, but had difficulty with the wipe free space utility freezing up/taking forever. So far, I like the program, but am also using Ccleaner that Tim recommended (thanx Tim. the program is awesome!)

    Hi

Yes Wipe Free Space in many utilities can take ages and it depends in the size of your HDD/s and the free space on it and the method of cleaning you utilise, say for arguments sake you use a single pass wipe method, it will not be very secure if you wish the data to not be recovered however will suffice for most users and take a shorter period of time.

However if you use a multiple pass method like Gutmann 35 pass or DOD 5220.22M 3 pass then they are going to take substatially longer to wipe the data from the free space on the drive, mainly in part old deleted data, than a single pass.

In cleaning mode it removed some icons from desktop because the programs were not located on "c" drive.

In registry mode it stopped an application from running and i had to reinstall it.
