The stupid retailer did not tell me the x800 XT PCI-E card I ordered way back on 12/18 was backordered. So, I need to get to the big-box store for a purchase as my other parts will be here Thursday/Friday.

A local Circuit City has said card. Benchmarks seem to be good for the NVidia model. How about this one?

    Thanks.

I say go to www.newegg.com and look at their video cards and read the reviews about the ones you're thinking about getting. It lets you compare them easier.

I have done the whole comparison thingie to the max. I was hoping for someone who had first hand experience with this particular card.

Thanks for the heads up though - NewEgg rocks!

I can't help you with the 7900 GS, but evga is a very good brand. I have a 7800GT. Got it last Christmas and then they came out with the 7900 series and I was mad. Took a look at the card, and looks very nice. It has a little higher performance than my card does and that is good. I can play pretty much anything at the highest settings. I say you'll be happy with it.

Thanks. It seems the card does get good reviews. Your positive experience with the brand is another pro - I think I will pick one up.

    Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the reply. I bought a BFG model 7900GS overnighted from NewEgg for $206 before $30 rebate. Not that particular model but I think it will suffice.

    Thanks for the heads up!

@volumeone0686: that is pretty fast. I overclocked my 7800gt by 30mhz on it's core and I don't remember what on the memory, but it was running somewhere in the 1600mhz range. It runs stable too! Freakin' crazy.

@volumeone0686: The xfx. I'm considering buying their high end 7950GT. It's only 299.99 now, but I'm waiting for it to go down a little more before I shell out the cash. I don't know though cause there's an old monte carlo here at the bank where I work that got repossessed and I think they're getting ready to sell it. Decisions Decisions.
