Hey MGs, currently I am using either Foobar2000 or VLC to play my flac files through a 24bit Xonar card and I am thinking of changing to something with a bit more flexibility so I can playback music using multiple devices.

Some background on my systems. I have a 5.1 home theatre setup in one room and also a high end hi fi stereo setup in another room. Both rooms have high performance pcs and very large flat screen HD or UHD TVs. The audio output is through 24 bit Xonar cards and graphics is handled by high performance NVIDIA graphics cards. Both systems are running Win 7 Pro 64bit and are connected to several NAS servers on my network.

Does anyone from MGs use either Rune Audio or Volumio?
If you are using either, how easy are they to setup to be controlled by multiple devices eg tablets, phones, pcs?
Can you set control priority over different devices?

If I was going to use Rune Audio I would be getting a network aware Rasberry Pi and connecting it directly to a DAC that I would purchase for this purpose and with a budget AU$2000 this is the more expensive option but will have a much higher resolution audio output.

Or the cheaper option is to use Volumio and run it on my HTPCs and output through the existing Xonar cards.

I am thinking the first option may yield the better sounding output but it would only be a very small improvement over what I already have now but what I am most interested in is opinions for the above software or maybe any other audiophile options.
    Thanks
