    Greetings.

I have just upgraded from a 512 AMD 1700+ to a AMD 64 3200 with 1024 gigs o' ram. Although my current Radeon 9800 Pro does a respectable job with stuff so far, I was looking to upgrade the video card too.

I have been researching the X700 Pro (AGP). It seems to fit my budget at about 189 bucks. Tom's VGA Charts seem to indicate it is a pretty good performer. Does anyone have any experience with this card and a setup such as mine? I would think it would be quite a jump from my current 9600 Pro.

And for the record, I love my new rig. It is more than notably faster than my old one. Even with the same video card.

    Thanks for input.

got a link for that pro? how much ram? find a performance comparison between x700pro and 6800 vanilla, since they are the same price.

sorry i am by no means an expert in these things and people on here can probably tell ya alot more but......

i have a twin pipe 2x2.8ghz pentium system with 1024ddr ram and a radeon X700 pro.

my kids use it alot for games and i just wanna say this is a very very nice card!

Fast and smooth!!!! including when playing all the 3d games u can currently throw at it!

    But 1 other point!

if u are going to search on the net for test results etc the 1's i found when searching for it showed a radeon pro with 128mb onboard but from what i can see in the stores (in the uk anyways) they dont put this card in the pc's.lol when they where developing it apparently the nvidia was kicking its butt so they gave it 256mb onboard and kept all its pipes for quick/silky shading!

As i said i am not an expert and i didnt buy the card it came as spec with my new pc but it knocks spots off anything i have had b4!!!!

and if nobody has anything better in the price range i wouldnt hesitate to buy it!

    Ooops -

I meant to say 9600 Pro, not 9800 Pro.

For reference, I updated my old 2400 + to a 9800 Pro and got a negligable gain in performance. I was disappointed so I returned it and kept my 9600 Pro.

I checked performance at Tom's VGA charts http://www.tomshardware.com/index.html and Best Buy has the x700 Pro for $189. I could get it cheaper online I would think but I will purchase on site for convienence sake.

I will search for a 6800 comparison as per you suggestion this evening.

Hi again Tom's vga charts results show the radeon X700 with 128 on board check if the 1 you are ordering is that 1 or the 256mb on board because the 256 is a lovely piece of kit!
