Hi, I recently clean my cpu and removed every parts inside. When I put everything back, my computer(XP) doesnt recognize my optical drive anymore. My HDD jumpers where not moved, the optical disk drive has power because it opens. When i go to bios i can see the optical disk drive but when logged in i cant see the dvd drive.

My HDD is IDE and my ODD is SATA, should i rearrange the sata? it has SATA1 where my ODD is connected and SATA2 and I only have 1 IDE where my HDD is connected.

    I tried microsoft's fix

    but no luck

Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance

Did you try re-seating the cable and is it connected correctly? Did you try flashing the firmware for your CD drive? You state you're running XP. XP doesn't natively support SATA drives — Vista and later do.

Hi, im sure it was seated and connected correctly, about the flashing firmware do you mean the driver? I cant find the cd/dvd rom driver on device manager.

And about the SATA, ive been using my pc for quite along time with sata cable for my ODD. im sure it's working, ive been able to watch movies, burn files using my odd.
