optical drive error

    the icon for my dvd drive has disappeared, it said that i must reinstall driver software as the computer dont recognise the drive, but the drive still opens and closes so any advice.

    it said the software could be found on the net, dont know where to look.
    i think this is the name of the driver

    HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GCA-4164B

    any help appreciated

    Operating System? What does it show in the device manager?

    Did you Install/uninstall anything to create the problem?
