options please for a no-boot XP slaved drive

Hi all.
tried everything to recover my business drive. Most is backed up and I've slaved it and recovered all my files. Its just the time it is going to take to re-install and configure everything. About 8 hours at a guess.

Is there anything I can do whilst the drive is slaved ?
It boots to xp splash screen then goes to setup then reboots continuously. Does same thing with safe mode .
No option for switching off continual rebooting either. ?

Can I replace parts of windows ,drivers, registry etc ?

any help gratefully received.

ps not virus have checked with AVG and malware etc probably a missing driver
tried CHKDSK SCANDISK FIXMBR and FIXBOOT
