I just ordered a matching pair of SODIM memory modules and failed to consider the memory type; I was focused on the price of the matching sticks.

The Toshiba specifications show the Satellite L655D-S5076RD having memory type of PC3-8500 DDR3-1066MHz, I have accidentally ordered a matching pair of PC3-10600 DDR3-1333MHz.

I know with PC100 you could put PC133 without added benefit, will the PC3-8500 and the PC3-10600 be in the same case scenario? Larger and faster memory module able to fit in the space or number of pin slot but without any extra performance seen?

Will it be ok to swap in the PC3-10600 modules in place of PC3-8500?

Meaning I should check in the BIOS for a 10600 setting for the RAM?

PC10600 wasn't listed as an upgrade for the RAM in that link.
But check anyway. May have changed.
Could always RMA and request the correct speed to replace the 10600.

    Hi Break,

In most situations like this the computer will run the memory at the hightest speed it (computer) is capable of but not faster than the mem speed. If only the mem speed is different in the specs it is possible that both speeds came from the same batch. Speed is probably determined by testing at the factory.

    Good Luck, Jim
