    I was out and about on the web and found an article saying that Sun Microsystems has released an early access version of their Solaris 10 OS, a free OS. It's free in hopes that people will download it and write more software to be compatable with Sun's Os's.

    I was curiouse if anyone out there has ever used a Solaris build OS and if anyone is interested in using this one? I might download it, since it is free from Sun's web site. (link provided below)

    I know many people use Linux already, but since this is an OS thread I'll provide links to download the .ISO's to redhat 9.x and a few previous versions.

    Also if anyone has both a solaris OS and a Linux, could you post a compare and contrast between the two, and perhaps throw a little XP into the mix?

    Linux --> http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=7

    (note: open office is a free office software that can interface with all microsoft office documents, .doc, .pps, .txt, .rtf, etc.)

    You need a Sun Microsystems computer to run Solaris, they have their own microprocessors called SPARC. Solaris will not run on an Intel or AMD.

    Linux will run on an Intel or AMD.
