I hope someone could enlighten me on this. I have gone forum after forum with similar problems but haven't found a definite answer or an answer I'm looking for. Currently I have been tasked to fix some older servers for crash kits. The mobo I'm currently working with is the Kontron 886LCD/ATX(GV). Everytime I get to the OS loading screen or just about to install a fresh copy of an OS, the system crashes. I have currently reseeded the boards, tried workable memory in eash slot, a new processor, flashed the cmos(which I needed to do to get some of the systems just up and running), new HD, new CD-rom drive, PSU, and ribbons... The OS trying to be installed is a version of RHLE with Avaya voice system integration. I have run memtest for the ram but that seems to be the only diagnostic tool that works. I have tried to run Koppix and UBCD but they will not boot. The sites have suggestested to burn at slower speeds and I have, I even changed the BIOS to only read the CD-rom drive. I'm stuck and not sure where to go at this point. I have felt I have tried all that I can, and I would let it go if this problem didnt occure in 6 systems so far... out of the 10 that I have currently worked with. So I feel as though I might have missed something to have these many systems with the same problem. Help would greatly be appreciated.

Are you using the same media to install and are the systems definately compatible with that OS?

Yes I used the parts from the ones that work. The media used for this server is currently installed in the working one.

Way over my head, but can you see any blue screen info before it crashes? Can you unload all the hardware except minimums?

There is no BSOD... I wish there was a screen that would give me a string of lines to indicate a problem but... The only thing you see is linux uploading for about a couple of secs then crash. The pause/break button doesnt stop it so I cant see whats is going on. All hardward works fine in other servers...

Can you boot from an ISO image? Are you running Apache?-Maybe a linux forum would be better.

Iso images can be seen and read.. memtest works, the initializing of the OS install (but crashes about half way into the load) works so I know the cdrom works. As for the needed to be in a Linux forum I dont think is necessary. Even if i try to load Win on there it still crashes at the same spot. I tried to load into command to run a fix mbr but once it tries to load it crashes.

Hmmm. Well, how much memory do you have?

The system runs on 512... I have currently checked the dimms and they are running fine... If you are gonna say try more dimms, I have up to 1g but it doesn't seem to make a differnece in the systems that I'm trying to get running. They still crash at the same spot even with more RAM

    This isn't wireless is it?

The systems have nothing wireless on it

I personally dont believe this is hardware. I think it is either the CD that the the OS is on or a compatability issue with RHLE.

i thought the same thing so i tried a windows cd and the same crash occured and i have used that cd with RHLE on it, on other systems and worked fine

MotherBoard, can you change it out? Big job but...maybe a damaged FSB or something? Some kind of physical damage? Maybe its getting too hot. Can you cool the room down?

The installed DDR SDRAM should support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the
BIOS to read and configure the memory controller for optimal performance. If non-SPD memory is used, the
BIOS will attempt to configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted.
In general DDR SDRAM with higher speeds than 266MHz may be used (e.g. 333MHz or 400MHz), but it is
recommended to run a qualification test before use or to use Kontron Technology validated DDR SDRAM.
