os install not responding

    I have a dell de051, at first when i would boot up it boot to bios than go blank. So i took the hdd out and put in another computer, loaded a fresh install of xp, when it deleted the partion and xp started to load i shut the computer down and put it back in the dell. when it ask to hit any key it will not boot. when i go int bios the up/down,+/- work. Can some give me a fix

    I also just notice by pressing f8 it gives me a Keyboard failure message with the Press any key to boot from CD option, but still no functions.
    Could it be that I'm using a compaq keyboard?

    So you installed XP on one computer and are now trying to use this hard drive in a different computer? If that is correct, then of course it will not work because the hardware is different.

    When you also mention
    am I understanding that you deleted the restore partition?
