os keeps rebooting w/usb

I installed new drive and win xp pro os. added usb devices one at a time printers, scanner, wireless mouse and kybd. when i shut down or restart the bios keeps reappearing and it wont boot up UNLESS i remove every usb device cable. have tried individual items, but doesnt make a difference. even a card reader cable without the reader attached plugged into a usb port will cause it to cycle and cycle until i remove it then it will boot? any suggestions?

Check the BIOS for boot sequence... see if it's set to look for a USB kb. That's the only thing I can think of that would prevent you from booting normally. Does your keyboard cable have a usb to ps2 adapter?

If you can, please provide the motherboard specs ( manufacturer and model number + driver version ) and BIOS version.

 

iceman, dont have specs withme, its at home im at work. but as far as errors it s set up to halt on errors except kybd i believe, i have a regular kb and ps2 mouse plugged in when this happens. with the usb receiver plugged in for the wireless mouse and kb it wont boot. as it also wont boot with any usb cable plugged in.

 

Do you know what version the USB port is? USB 1.1 or 2.0... and if so are the drivers installed? Sorry man, but I think we need some more info. If you could post the specs when you get home that'd be a huge help.
