I was wondering if someone could answer this question. Would it improve a computers performance in any way to put the OS on its own HDD with nothin else. and all other data on a seperate HDD.

    thanx for your time.

You can put multiple partitions on single HDD Install the OS on the first partition

I want to thank you for the reply. I was still wondering what the benfits are. And if a seperate hard drive just for the OS is helpful in any way?

    thanx,

Well, ASUS is right on multiple partitions as being safer. If something takes out your OS install, most likely you won't lose anything except for time when you reinstall your OS on it's own partition. I haven't lost a thing in 7 years, except for my own stupidity. :-o:-D

So is multiple partitions better than a dedicated HDD for the OS. is there any difference. I was wondering I have multiple smaller HDD's lying around that could do the job.
Would this increase speed of the system as well as improve security of my data.

    thanx for your time,

I have several PC's I run both single HDDs and multiple HDDs, Multiple Partitions on All, even multiple OS's
I cant tell any differance in performance regardless of where I put the OS
I always install The OS and all my basic utilities programs on one Partition, then use other separate partitions for storage

Make sure if your running Multiple HDDs, Install the OS on the Fastest speed HDD and make sure its running as the Master

Performance gains can be had many ways, other things will make more differance :cool
    Bios Settings
HDD selection run the fastest speed HDD your system can support, ya might even try a Raid 0 setup, I don't, I think raid 0 is more trouble than it's worth
You can strip down your OS disable unimportant junk
Keep your OS clean, remove spyware and similar garbage, clean up your registry
Be selective of the programs your Install, no resource hogs
Your Choice Of Ram and the Amount you run

    Upgrade to faster PC:-D

    There's always Overclocking;) my favorite:major
