OSPF (Needed for research)

    As far as i know OSPF uses Dijkstra Algorithm. Am I right on this one? And is it possible to use A* Algorithm on IP Routing or replace the Dijkstra?

    Please help me on this one. Thanks.

    Yes it uses Dijkstras. No as far as i know you cannot replace it. You can adjust the parameters and knobs in ospf to get what you want but the underlying algorithm will always be dijkstras.

    Thanks for the answer but I don't understand as to why A* is not applicable? As far as I know A* is Dijkstra with a heuristic. Can anyone give me the reason why? Sorry but I need this just for support.
