Hi all. I have a wireless laptop connected to a Linksys router in my home. However I don't have it password proteced. The reason being is that I have 2 college kids living next door and I don't mind if the use my connection. However is there a way that I can tell if anyone else is using my connection, or even when the yuppies are using it? Thanks

First...I would highly recommend that you encrypt your router. If you have talked to the kids about using it, you can give them your password.

There are programs out there that can monitor traffic.

This is one that is available for a charge: http://majorgeeks.com/Wireless_Watch_Home_d4116.html

You can go here and go through the different programs to see if any meet your needs: http://majorgeeks.com/downloads11.html

Also, depending on your security software, it may be available through that. I used to have Trendmicro and it had that feature.

    good luck

Most routers will maintain a list of computers connected to it.

If you could post the model of the router, we can likely find you instructions.

I'd have to reiterate the advice of securing the signal, though. If some creep were to connect, and do something unlawful, it will be traced back to you.
