I was cleaning some things out of my add/remove programs area and ran across an installer for Otto... after digging a bit on my hard drive, I found a folder with a bunch of crap in it called EnglishOtto.

Does anyone know if this is vital for some other program or if I can just dump it?

    thanks,

By any stange coincidence do you have a DELL or other OEM branded PC?

OTTO iirc is a game or a gaming addon similar to Wild Tanget, which is pre-installed on OEM PCs.

Check Program Files folder for Otto and see what it is or if its there as that woudl be the default install loaction for that game, if indeed its a game and if there are any read me's or instruction text files read them to find what this is exactly.

I have an HP Pavillion dv8000 series notebook.

I seem to remember having to pull a bunch of Wild Tangent crap off my laptop a year ago...

should Otto / EnglishOtto (yes, folder found in program files) have gone the way of the dodo at the same time?

    thanks,

Read the link I gave. Scroll down the pages for mentions of Wild Tangent, etc. Best of luck. Bazza

Yeah...I had discovered this one too when digging around w/Google, but wanted to put it to Major Geeks, as I trust this site more than the others with useful, no-bs info on how to fix problems.

I had found precious little in the Major Geeks database about Otto and wanted to put it out there for opinions before I removed it and potentially put my system at risk...

thanks for the info, and before I chuck it, I'll wait and see if anyone else has any insights...

After I do it, I'll let you all know if it caused my laptop to become a paperweight.

    thanks,

Make a restore point, delete what you want then if you discover something is broken go back to the restore point.
