So I went into work today (Saturday) with all the power tools to redesign the reception area for two of my staff. Half way into the project, lifting a large heavy slab of wood, my back went out. Lower lumbar region...lots of pain. OUCH!

Kodo...can I borrow your 2 year old kid....I remember he is an excellent chiropractor when you had back issues ;)

Yup...watching the Ducks thrash Fresno State currently ;)

Can't sit much right now, so my stops here will be brief for the forseeable future.

Sorry to hear that, Lev. Lower back trouble is also something I'm quiet familiar with lately.

Yep, plenty of rest and antiinflammatories and analgesics. ;)

Thanks guys...it was a bit of a rough night and I felt I had been set in concrete when I woke up. Massage, pain pills and a hot power shower have helped, so I'm planning on kicking back with the laptop and watching the Red Dwarf DVDs my brother sent me for my birthday :)

Back problems run in my family. My Dad gave me his lower twisted spine. Add to that pelvic problems from carrying babies, and every once in a while this happens. I will get there - thanks for all your kind words and support, guys :)

Funny you mentioned this Lev Try this, lay on your back on a flat hard surface eg the floor:) lift your knees up and take hold of them like your doing a bomb in a swimming pool hold for 5 secs then slowly let your knees downwhile ralaxing your arms above your head

If you do it right when you relax your arms and kness back down it will stretch out your spin and release the pressure on the vertebrae,do it slowly to keep control of the tension :)

    I have a 16 year old son :p

@Rikky - yeah....years of chripractic treatment have taught me a few tricks, including that one. Right now, though, I would be lucky to lift my toes up off the ground, let alone my knees to my chest. Give it a few more days :D

Does anyone know how hard it is to get out of a water bed fast?

Does anyone know how hard it is to get out of a water bed fast WITH a bad back when a spider crosses infront of your eyes on its' web ???

Sorry to here about your back, Lev. I've been through some back problems. Most of them subsided when I quit pretending I was stronger than I am. I don't care for muscle relaxants, but I like the sound of the scantily clad masseuse that Solange mentioned earlier in the thread.:p

Not specifically, but on some of my worst days, it's taken a couple of minutes to get off of my traditional bed, even without a dangling spider to motivate me.

But I imagine the spider speeded up your time significantly. ;)

My life never seems to work out like that, no matter what. I just have to keep on keeping on, I just do it with a degree of discomfort. In fact, the worst thing you can do for a lower lumbar back issue is to stop completely. In the 70's they used to tell you to stop, but now they tell you to keep going.

One energizer bunny coming up :D
