I was using Outlook 2001 and got the following error:
    0x800004005
I Googled but found nothing helpful
so I installed the upgrade 2007 (which I hate) I had purchased but never installed until today, and I still get the error.
Verizon is always complainging that my inbox if full so I went in and deleted a BOATLOAD of emails, attachments, etc, AND emptied the deleted folder.
I'm still getting the error code.
    And cant download my mail
I can SEND, just not receive with that email address.
    H E L P !!!

    :cry

I did some research, and without knowing exactly what the error message says, it will be difficult to pin down the error. There are over 150 references to 0x80004005 at the Microsoft support page....

(note: there's three zeroes after the 8, not four ;) )

You know? I thought it had too many zeros and then counted and STILL came up with 4. Got your post, checked, counted again, and sure enough.... 3
    oh my
    gittin' old
    :-o

    The message just says:

Task 'Right.Girl' - Receiving reported error (0x80004005): The Operation failed

    not much to go on
but I am downloading my other verizon emails, just not this
and this one is the one most people have

    Hi

    Just a few questions:

Are you using Norton? if you are info here
Are you on an Exchange Server for your emails, generally corporate networks?
Is date and time correct on your PC in regards to DST?

Also check through your email for a message likely with attachment that takes ages to open, could be corrupted message.

Thank you so much for helping me
    Here are the answers....
    I am using CA
Not using Exchange Server here at home
    Date & time are correct
I had already gone through and deleted all emails with attachments as well as a boatload of others
I logged on to Verizon's site to retrieve that email (the others ARE downloading into Outlook just not my right.girl email that stopped a day or so ago) and found thousands of emails. So I figured my email on their site was not set to delete after downloading into Outlook. So I deleted it ALL. Thinking that would free me up and allow me to start downloading into Outlook again.
    Eau Contraire'
    To no avail.
    Still not downloading
    aarrggghhh
