I use Outlook 2000 for my mail program.
Today, I was sent an email about attending a meeting.
I went to add this to my calendar to remind me of the meeting, and it had already been added.
I have checked through my settings, and find no where to prevent this from happening again.
How do I prevent someone else from adding things to my calendar?

Thank you so much fro you help.

Was it a meeting request email, and you had to respond whether you were able to attend or not? If so, and you said you would attend, Outlook automatically adds it.

Secondly, if the above doesn't apply to you, who have you given permission to view and make changes to your calendar?

    Thanks for your response.

Yes, she had her email flagged "please respond", but I just closed the email. I did not respond to her email.

I have never given anyone permission to make changes to my calendar.
Does Outlook default to giving permission and it's something that has to be unchecked?

    Thanks again.

No it doesn;t default....you have to set it.

If you opened her email (rather than just viewed it in the preview window) it will put it into your Calendar as "tentative" - in light blue. Once you accept it will go to "busy" - dark blue. The trick is to preview emails and requests so they don't do this. You know what the person wants from you, but they don;t know you've read their request ;) I use preview at work all the time so I don;t send "Read" emails to people until I'm ready to action their request :D

    Thanks a lot.
I had wondered if I turned the preview pane on, it would let me see the message with out any other acknowledgement.
    Thanks for you help.

Also go to Tools>Options>Email Options>Tracking Options and at the bottom of that window check "Never send a response".

Well, that brought me to another problem.
I headed to where you were pointing me to go to never send a response, but it is greyed out.
Under it there is the message that reads:

This option only applies to messages coming through Internet E-Mail Transports.

Is there a work around for this?

I really appreciate your help on this.

I've used it okay with internet email transports and non-internet, so that doesn't make sense to me. Maybe your work has something configured differently?

Can anyone else shed some light on this?

I really appreciate your help Lev.
I've turned the preview pane on and will wait for her to send another meeting email to see if it has prevented it from being added to my calendar.
    Thanks again for you help.
